Walking Wednesdays Are Back!

Well – we tried to start yesterday, but the fields were too soggy, so we’ll try again next week!

Kindergarten, first and second graders participate in Walking Wednesdays for six weeks in the fall and six weeks in the spring during their recess period. The kids run or walk laps around the field behind the school.

The volunteers each get a spreadsheet with all of the names of the students in a particular teacher’s class. Each time a child completes a lap they tell you their name and you mark the spreadsheet. Each time they complete 12 laps throughout the season they get to chose a prize. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up via this Sign Up Genius: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0e4ba4aa2aa13-tres.

If dates you wanted are already full, you are always welcome to go and walk laps with your child!

Please sign up for our fall season of Walking…

Silent Auction – FAQ’s

What is the silent auction and what’s the big deal?

By now you have probably read about the big auction happening on Friday evening, March 11th at The Gathering Place in Clarksville. The auction is a biennial event but provides over 60% of our funding! If you’re new to TRES or have never attended the auction, I strongly encourage you to purchase tickets this year and join us. It is a wonderful parents night out where you can have delicious food, spend time with other TRES parents and bid on some excellent auction items. It’s also a great time to mingle with the many TRES teachers and staff who attend the auction!

This sounds like a fancy event. Do I have to get dressed up?
Here’s the best part – NO!! Friday nights are meant for unwinding and that’s why we chose the theme “Blue Jeans and Bling!” Throw on your favorite jeans, dress them up or down – your choice!

What are these “grade basket” emails that I received?
Each grade makes one or two themed baskets which go to the highest bidder on the night of the auction. The contents of the baskets are made up of contributions from parents in that grade. Please take a moment to go onto the Sign Up genius for your child’s grade and sign up for an item. If you’d prefer we happily take cash or gift card donations for the basket coordinators to shop for items. If you have not received the sign up genius for your grade(s) please email us [email protected].

Can parents contribute auction items?
YES! Many families in the past have contributed stays at their vacation home, sports tickets, music lessons, photography sessions, products from their companies and more. If you are wiling and able to donate auction items or if you or your business would like to make a cash donation or sponsor our event, please contact Missy Rohrbach [email protected] or Amy [email protected] and we will happily work with you!

Will there be any auction items that interest me?
We will have auctions items for everyone! From Adele concert tickets (yes, you read that correctly) and Walt Disney World passes to local camp tuition and dinner gift certificates. Our most popular items are class pottery and our “Faculty Follies.” You could win a chance for your child to be Principal for a Day, Front Row seats to 5th grade graduation, VIP parking for TRES events, priceless activities for your children and their TRES teachers and much more!

What is this class pottery that I keep hearing about?
Each classroom, with the help of a parent volunteer, creates a priceless piece of pottery to be auctioned on March 11th. The pottery is VERY popular and is a wonderful memory of your child’s time at TRES this year. Each item is unique and beautifully done- look for them in the TRES display case as we get closer to the auction!

How do I buy tickets and what will the evening be like?
Invitations will be coming home in Friday folders soon. There will be plenty of delicious food, a cash bar and music. We will have a silent auction, a live auction for the large, most popular items, parent and teacher raffles and much, much more!

A Letter from Superintendent Dr. Renee A. Foose

Special Message to Families – Baltimore Unrest

Dear HCPSS Community,

Our hearts are with the citizens of Baltimore City as they restore safety and heal from the tragedies occurring in their communities. We stand with our neighbors in Baltimore City who are working for peace and an end to the violence, with an understanding that violence is never the answer.

Due to continued safety concerns, our school system has canceled or made alternative arrangements for all field trips and other events taking place in downtown Baltimore through this weekend.

HCPSS Student Services personnel are available to support the social and emotional safety and well being of students, staff, and families. Anyone in need of support should contact their school administrator or counselor. Additional resources for families are posted below and on our website.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to support our students during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Dr. Renee A. Foose
Superintendent

Click here for the TRES International Night Volunteer Form.

Please note: One of the highlights of the evening is to taste various foods from different cultures.  However, samples are bite-sized only, and are limited to one per person while supplies last, so we encourage families to eat dinner before arriving.

Water Bottles

Mrs. Dumler has installed a filtered water bottle filling station to encourage students and staff to drink more water in accordance with the Wellness Policy.  The TRES PTA is proud to support this initiative by giving students and staff a Triadelphia Ridge, BPA-free, water bottle.  The bottles were distributed to the students this week and may be filled with plain, uncolored water.  Please be sure to label the bottle with your child’s name, if they did not do so already. Additional bottles may be purchased at the school store for $2.00. Note that the bottles are NOT dishwasher safe.
