Important PTA News

LAST CALL FOR THE FAMILY DIRECTORY – Please complete the PTA Connect Form by this Wednesday September 30th if you want your family’s information to be included in the directory.  The PTA Connect Form can be completed online at our website www.trespta.digitalpto.com and Clicking the Paw on the right side of the page (please type this website into your browser if the link takes you to an hcpss website).  You may also complete the form that recently came home in Friday folders and return it to school by Wednesday.  Please consider joining the PTA at this time as well.  There is no volunteer obligation, it’s an inexpensive way to support our school and only PTA members get a copy of the directory.  Don’t miss out on this exclusive membership benefit!  Thanks in advance to Niti Blackwell for taking on this important project for our school!

EVENT/INFORMATION EMAILS – The PTA will begin sending out its own emails beginning next week. If you have not completed the PTA Connect Form (online on paper) we do not have your email address.  Please complete the form as noted above to stay better informed and connected to our school. We will strive to keep them short, sweet and infrequent if you strive to read them!

WALKING WEDNESDAYS IS NEW AND IMPROVED! – During Wednesday’s morning announcements your children will learn about exciting changes to the Walking Wednesday program.  Walking Wednesdays, which runs for 6 weeks in the fall and repeats in the spring, is a program where the students are encouraged to walk laps around the back field during recess.  Students earn prizes for every 10 laps they walk over the 6 week period.  New this year, the classroom with the most laps each week will be awarded the “Golden Shoe Trophy” which will be proudly displayed in the classroom.  Additionally, the student in each class who has the most laps at the end of the six week period will win a $10 Toys R Us gift card.  A big thank you to Erica Haycock for leading this initiative and to the many parent volunteers who will participate this year.

The Retriever Rally Is Coming!

Our children’s favorite fall event is upon us!  The annual Retriever Rally will be held on Friday September 18 from 6:30 – 8:30 at TRES.  We’ll have carnival games, inflatables, our traditional Cake Walk, lots of food and ice cream for purchase and, new this year, a photobooth from Photobooth Wizards.  We can’t do it alone so we need your help!

There are so many opportunities to help with this event:  game stations, prize and craft tables, face painting and our Cake Walk.  The Cake Walk is a little like musical chairs – but a lucky child gets yummy baked goods that our parents have made or purchased when the music stops!  It’s a favorite with the kids and we want enough cupcakes, cookies, brownies, etc. to go around!

Volunteer spots are in 30 minute increments – so there is plenty of time to enjoy the Rally with your family and still volunteer.  If you’re willing and able to volunteer and/or donate a baked good (remember it can be purchased!), please open the attached Google doc and add your name and EMAIL ADDRESS to a volunteer slot.  The document is automatically saved and updated.

Thank you for your help – we look forward to working together to make this event a fun and an exciting start to the year for everyone. Can’t wait to see you at the Rally!
